With the single “Pouring Water” Middle Sattre have set themselves as one of the central voices of the queer pop scene in and around Austin and the Midwest, now the eight piece band is back with a double single and the announcement of their first album Tendencies, mastered by Heba Kadry (who has worked with L’Rain and Sufjan Stevens), to be released for Sad Tree Records on February 9, 2024. The two new singles—“Pornography” and “Stop Speaking”—best represent the themes of Tendencies, thought as a sorto of coming-of-age novel for queer, but also as a kind of autofictional account for the emotional growth of Hunter Prueger The two tracks deride the dangerous way society often marginalise young girls and queer people. Both tracks present a gently sophisticated orchestral folk pop, not far from the Seven Swan and Michigan-era Sufjan Stevens.
