Madeline Link knows how to strike while the iron is hot. Just seven months after the release of her indie project’s sophomore album, Crispy Crunch Nothing, she unveiled a new album and shared its inaugural single, “Honey.” A month later, it becomes evident that she is determined to swiftly usher PACKS into their junior phase. She recently revealed “HFCS,” the second single from the upcoming album, Melt the Honey, scheduled for release on January 19th through Fire Talk. “HFCS” is an acronym that stands for High Fructose Corn Syrup, but the song itself defies any syrupy expectations. Instead, it delivers a crunchy, grungy, lo-fi-ish, and succinct indie rock track—a vibrant and scuzzy guitar-driven anthem reminiscent of Balkans or more recent acts like Famous Mammals.
