With a name inspired by the philosophical ideas of a medieval nun but also a gardening company name, True Green (formed by Dan Hornsby and Tailer Ransom) manages to blend poetic depth and the ordinary Dan Hornsby, a writer who makes music, infuses a sense of poetry and lightness in his music. In the sketches of True Green’s debut album, My Lost Decade, set to be released on February 1st by Spacecase Records, there are tales of everyday life that carry the scent of the Midwest and echo the narratives of Tom Drury. “Midtown Matt” narrates the stories of those drunken slackers you found in bars who always promise to leave but remain anchored to their small town like a tree to its roots.
It’s a kind and sophisticated bedroom pop, both literary and melodic. Megan Storie, Zach Mitchell (Big Clown), and Jesse Chandler (Midlake) collaborate on the album.
